Three Hierarchs Scholarship
The Three Hierarchs Award of Drs. Anthony and Joyce Kales was established in 1993 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
In keeping with the teachings of our Orthodox faith and tradition, the program is named The Three Hierarchs Scholarship Award. The Three Hierarchs of our church, St. Basil the Great, St. Gregory the Theologian and St. John Chrysostom, are the patron saints of education and culture, because they used the art of education and the Greek classics to teach about God.
The purpose of the award is to recognize, and thereby stimulate, outstanding academic achievement. Each year, at the beginning of May, all graduating high school seniors with
these qualifications should submit the application with accompanying documents listed in this brochure.
