Light a Candle at St. Demetrios of Fort Lauderdale

“I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

St. Demetrios  follows in the traditional Orthodox ways, where  it is customary to light candles and offer prayers for one’s personal needs or that of a family member or friend,
Candles are lit in the Narthex and before icons as a sign of one’s faith in God’s help; that is always sent to all who turn to Him and His Saints with faith and prayers.

Below you will find information on lighting a candle online & in person.
For those wishing to light a candle online, please add the names of your loved ones, in the 'Notes'  section at checkout.
Names will be given to Father Peter Zougras to be read Divine Liturgy & a member of the Parish Council team will light the candle on your behalf.
In practice, when lighting a candle in the Orthodox Church the faithful usually make a small offering to the Church. The suggested Donation amounts are pre-filled below.
