GOYA End of Year Retreat Trip 2026

The St. Demetrios GOYA end-of-year retreat is to celebrate the culmination of the youth ministry year by balancing spiritual reflection with fellowship. It serves to strengthen friendships, celebrating achievements, and celebrate newly graduated seniors. It builds the bonds of fellowship that carry into the summer and beyond.  It allows older members to share memories and pass leadership torches to younger members, ensuring continuity for the next ministry year.

Transportation, lodging, food, activities from Sunday through Wednesday are included.  
Below you will find the itinerary, requested contribution method, registration form.

Itinerary

  • Sunday June 7th, after church vans will leave for Ocala, location below.
  • Monday June 8th, visit monastery
  • Tuesday June 9th, theme park visit
  • Wednesday June 10th, checkout and drive back

Parent Agreement

We, the parents (legal guardians) of the youth(s) listed above, give our consent and approval for  his/her participation in all activities of the End of Year Trip. In consideration of our child's acceptance in said activities, we do hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, without regard to any negligence on their part, against any claim for damages, compensation or otherwise including all losses and expenses caused to or by our child while participating in any activities.

I/We consent and give authority to obtain medical care and treatment for any and all illness/injury sustained as a result of participation in the End of Year Trip.  

I/We agree with the GOYA CODE OF CONDUCT and have reviewed with  son/daughter.

GOYA Code of Conduct - Covenant for GOYA

  • I am an Orthodox Christian and attend Church regularly.
  • I am active in GOYA and/or Catechetical School.
  • I understand that it is a privilege to be a participant in GOYA and will represent myself in a Christ-like manner.
  • I will remain with my group and be on time.
  • I feel completely comfortable to communicate with the GOYA advisors.
  • If I see, hear or am aware of something that could affect our group negatively I will notify my advisors straight away.
  • I will  participate in all activities & give notice to the advisors for activities I can not participate in..
  • I will do everything possible to ensure my mindset is Orthodox Christian. I will be an example of Christian behavior to my peers, my family & my community.
  • I will work to build-up my Orthodox brothers and sisters, using positive language & actions. I will respect others & myself.
  • I will respect all property including housing, outdoor and indoor facilities.
  • I will refrain from using obscenities. I will refrain from using alcohol and illegal drugs.
  • I will refrain from any negative actions.
  • I understand that if my behavior is not becoming of an Orthodox Christian, I could be asked to leave an event at my expense and/or be asked into a meeting with Father Peter Zougras and my parents (legal guardians),
  • I have read the accompanying rules and will follow them.
  • I understand that failure to comply with the covenant and rules could result in removal from an event, and/or future events, and/or the GOYA organization.
